First of all, how the hell do they get back here? I go out into nature to get away from this crap. WTF
Once I passed this sign, I did not see another trace, but still . . . I love this trail for its remoteness, I guess not remote enough though. I just can’t understand why people (kids) must do this??? What do they have to prove?
It was a beautiful day; I left at about 3pm and the temp on the trail was perfect. I ended up running 10.5 miles with 2,150’ of gain and about a 11:50 average pace. I just love the trail, with rolling technical hills, mostly tree protected, beautiful fields, awesome views, generally no sign of turons (tourist + morons), and animals everywhere you look. It also doesn't intersect another trail for 5 miles.
Oh yea, I almost forgot . . about 2 miles in to the run, I was in the “zone” and and just focusing on the trail. All of a sudden I looked up and right in front of me was a giant ‘man-eating’ cow. They do really exist. It scared the crap out of me. He is a photo of it running away; I scared him too. Don’t know exactly why he was afraid of me though, but I wasn’t waiting around to find out. TRUE STORY!
They are REAL!!!

Looks like a pretty day....sans killer cow!
Are you going to write about your Leadville experience? I keep waiting for an update or a phone call for all the details....all I know is a little tidbit I heard from Mills. :( Very proud of your effort. Are you planning on it again next year?
Hmmmm . . I am almost ready to talk about it . . . The DNF mentally destroyed me - first DNF.
I was strong enough, tough enough, but not smart enough!
Just found your blog - There must be a trail running gang or something! Tourons, and man-eating cows - I learned a lot from this post.
