Double Lollipop

Tuesday was a beautiful day for a run.  I usually do intervals on Green Mountain, but I wanted to get more miles this week.  My initial plan was to run 25 miles and that didn’t happen.  I ran in a new area and didn’t expect the vertical or the technical trails; I wanted more of a flat run, but that didn’t happen either.  I ended up running just over 21 miles with 3790’ of gain and it beat me up.

I started at the Green Mountain parking lot, went up and ran the Dakota Ridge trail and ended off trail.  I followed the ridge until the trail disappeared, bushed Double_Lolipop2backed as far as I could and then ended up hiking down the backside.  Then I went looking for Mathew Winters Park.  The trail was awesome, I can’t believe I had never been there before.  It was spring break so the trails were packed, including way too many dogs.  After that, I headed back to Dakota Ridge Trail and then a final loop around Green Mountain more or less.   

The Hokas were GREAT! And my recovery was better than expected.  I partially attribute the recovery to the shoes and the fact that I am getting stronger.  I ran another 10 miles with 666’ of gain the next day and I felt good.  It was suppose to be an easy day and I maintained a 9 minute pace.
