Best Running Water Bottle Hands Down

Water_Bottle

So is a water bottle a water bottle?  I have been running with a Camelbak and/or Platypus water bladder for at least 12 years and recently I started running with a handheld bottle.  It is not as comfortable, but I seem to drink more with a handheld.  Also, I expend much more effort drinking through that tiny tube from a bladder and I drink less.

Honestly, I never gave it any thought, always assumed they were all the same, but it is not the case.  I don’t remember where or even when, but some how I was given a Camelbak water bottle.  I think it was a freebee or something.  Now, I have been using both an Ultimate Direction and a Nathan for at least 4 years and they have always done the job.

The nozzle for the Camelbak bottle is super efficient.  With just a slight squeeze, it fills my mouth and then instantly sucks in air  allowing you to take another drink fast.  Without sounding like a commercial, it really makes a difference.  And it is cheaper than the other running bottles.

*With all imagethat said, I am intrigued by the new Geigerrig pressurized hydration pack.  It seems a bit heavier, but I have heard you can actually spray water into your mouth vs. sucking.  Looks like you can also buy a filter setup for back country or self sufficient races.

Check out the great review from Trail Runner Nation.
