What is the Leadville Trail 100? Must Watch!

I am running the Leadville Trail 100 in over 317 days.  I am repeating it a lot because I need to saturate this idea in my brain before I convince myself not to.   I really think this race is 50% mental and I am close to a 99% mental case, so I think I can do it.  I am a bit scared though, but I finished 50 miles with a smile on my face.

Many people can’t really comprehend a 100 mile race, let alone a race held over 10,000 feet.  When I told my dad . . .
that I was running a 50 mile race, he said that he doesn't even like to drive 50 miles. I laughed.  He is excited about Leadville for me and hopefully he will will be able to watch me finish; It helps that he read “Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen” by Christopher McDougall.  Great book!  And a great book for anyone to read.  My dad was never a runner and never will be and he loved it. (Are Sprinters runners?)

Either way, check out this video, it will give you a great intro to Leadville.
